It is the least crowded, most atmospheric version of China's most famous mountain.

- Winter admission — around RMB 150 during the winter period (roughly late December to late January); RMB 190 in the regular season
- Cable cars — Yungu and Taiping lines about RMB 65 one-way, Yuping line about RMB 75; book everything on the official "Huangshan Tourism" platform
- Winter opening — December to early March the park opens around 8:00 and last entry is about 16:40; hike checkpoints close at 15:00

Two or three things make a Huangshan winter trip unforgettable. The first is the rime ice: when wet air meets freezing temperatures, every pine and rock face grows a crystal coat, and the famous Guest-Greeting Pine becomes a white sculpture. The second is the sea of clouds, which sits lower in winter and fills the valleys below the peaks, so you look down onto an ocean of white. The third is sunrise from a summit — stay one night in a mountain hotel, walk out before dawn, and watch the first light paint the rime gold.
