Travel Tips for Jiangsu-Zhejiang

Best Time to Visit

March-May (cherry blossoms, comfortable weather) and September-November (cool, clear skies, autumn colors). Summer (June-August) is hot and humid. Winter is cold but fewer crowds make it a peaceful alternative. Avoid Chinese Golden Week (Oct 1-7).

High-Speed Rail Network

The Yangtze Delta has the densest HSR network in the world. Shanghai-Hangzhou: 45 min. Shanghai-Nanjing: 1h 15min. Suzhou-Shanghai: 25 min. Book tickets via Trip.com or the official 12306 app. First-class seats are highly recommended for comfort.

Getting There

Fly into Shanghai Pudong (PVG) or Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA). Both offer 144-hour transit visa-free entry. Hangzhou Xiaoshan (HGH) and Nanjing Lukou (NKG) also have international flights. The Shanghai Maglev train reaches 431 km/h from Pudong Airport to downtown.

All Ages Welcome

The Yangtze Delta is flat, modern, and exceptionally easy to navigate. Public transport is world-class, and most attractions are wheelchair accessible.

Family & Kids

Children love gondola rides in Wuzhen, Shanghai Disneyland (the largest Disney resort in Asia), and feeding koi fish in Suzhou's gardens. The Shanghai Science & Technology Museum and Hangzhou's Zhejiang Museum are interactive and kid-friendly. Boat tours on West Lake are gentle and fun for all ages.

Seniors & Accessibility

Flat terrain everywhere. Hangzhou's luxury bathhouses offer traditional Chinese wellness (foot massage, herbal baths, acupuncture). Tea ceremonies, boat tours, and garden strolls are gentle activities. Wheelchair access is available at most modern attractions, and the metro system is elevator-equipped.

Business Travelers

The Yangtze Delta is China's economic engine. Shanghai's Lujiazui financial district, Hangzhou's Alibaba campus, and Nanjing's tech parks make this region ideal for business travelers. High-speed rail connects every major city within 1 hour, making day trips easy between meetings.
