Canton Fair 2026 (140th Session): Three Phases from October 15 and What Buyers Should Do Now

The 140th Canton Fair: Dates, Phases and the Rhythm of the Fair

The 140th Canton Fair opens on October 15, 2026 at the Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou and runs in three phases until November 4. Phase 1 (October 15-19) covers advanced manufacturing — electronics, machinery, new energy and hardware; Phase 2 (October 23-27) shifts to quality home life — gifts, furniture, home goods and building materials; Phase 3 (October 31-November 4) is the consumer session — apparel, textiles, toys, food and health products. The halls close for changeover between phases.

Why the phase decision drives everything else

Each phase draws a different slice of the industry, so the single most important planning input is which phase matches your sourcing list. That decision sets your flights, your hotel area and your factory-visit windows — including the closed days between phases, which are the practical time to tour production bases nearby. Buyers who confirm the phase early book better transport and quieter negotiation time at the booths that matter.

Preparation checklist for buyers

  • Complete buyer registration on the official platform and, if your visa route needs it, request the invitation letter through the same account — do this well before travel
  • Match your product categories to a phase and book flights and hotels for that window plus buffer days on each side
  • Shortlist suppliers from the official exhibitor directory and note their hall and booth codes before you fly
  • First visit? Review the entry and on-site basics: metro exits to each hall, badge collection, and how payment on orders is usually structured

Frequently asked questions

Can I register for more than one phase?

Yes. During registration you select the phases you plan to attend, and your badge normally covers the ones you selected. Confirm the coverage at the collection counter on your first visit.

When should I book flights and hotels?

As soon as your phase is confirmed. Guangzhou fills substantially during the fair, and prices climb through September. Adding a buffer day on each side also protects you against schedule slips.

Do I need the invitation letter for a visa even if I am visa-free?

No — visa-free travelers generally do not need an invitation letter. If your trip depends on a visa, request the letter during registration and verify your own passport's current entry rules before booking.
