Lijiang Old Town is one of the best-preserved ancient towns in China and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Built 800 years ago by the Naxi people, it's a maze of cobblestone streets, stone bridges and canals fed by meltwater from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The town's layout follows the flow of water — every street has a canal running alongside it. The views from Sifang Street, looking up at the snow-capped peak, are unforgettable. Lijiang is also the gateway to the broader Naxi cultural region.
