Dongjiang Lake: Hunan's Ethereal Misty Morning Lake
Dongjiang Lake: Hunan's Ethereal Misty Morning Lake
Why Visit Dongjiang Lake
Dongjiang Lake's morning mist is one of Hunan's most photographed natural phenomena. Between April and October, a thick, low mist rises from the lake's surface in the early morning, creating the illusion of a floating world. A fisherman, staged for photographers, paddles a bamboo raft through the mist, casting his net against the ethereal backdrop. The 12-kilometer Xiaodongjiang stretch offers the best views, with a dedicated boardwalk. The mist usually clears by 9 AM, revealing a deep green reservoir surrounded by forested hills.
