There are a number of museums in China that are known for their rare exhibits and grand architectural designs.
The forerunner of the Museum of Chinese History is the Beijing History Museum constructed in 1912 and was opened to the commoners in October 1926. The Museum of Chinese History presents three major era of Chinese history. The foremost, the Primitive Society, extends from 500,000BC to 4,000BC. The objects on display in the Slavery Society section encompasses the time from 2,100BC to 475BC and the Feudal Society exhibits concentrate on the era from 221BC to 1911.Several of the items on exhibit are national assets and valuable rarities.
The Museum of the Chinese Revolution highlights the history of the past 150 years, especially the history of the Communist Party of China. It is separated into three segments. The objects on display in the Old Democratic Revolution segment deals with the era from 1840 to 1911. Proceedings between 1911 and 1949 are part of the New Democratic Revolution division. The third segment is labeled as "The Triumph of the Revolution and the Establishment of Socialism" and includes events after 1949.Most of China's contemporary history is displayed, together with the beginning of the Chinese Communist Party, the initial two civil wars during 1924-1927 and 1927-1937, the resistance war in opposition to Japanese belligerence during 1937-1945 as well as the freedom war during 1945-1949.
The Palace Museum is located in the heart of Beijing, the capital city of China. It was founded on October 10, 1925, and is China's biggest museum.
The museum is as well recognized as the 'Purple' Forbidden City in Chinese, or the Forbidden City as it is generally identified in English. It spreads over an area of 720,000 square meters and was the regal stronghold for of twenty-four emperors and their dynasties during the Ming and Qing eras of Chinese history. The museum is in addition China's biggest and most comprehensive architectural combination of ancient halls. Work of the museum started in 1420, the eighteenth year of Yongle, and hence the site has been in existence for the past 580 years. Over 70 halls of different sizes, including in excess of 9,000 rooms, comprise the Forbidden City.
The range, depth and superiority of its collections, and the remarkable architecture in addition to utilization of contemporary expertise make the Shanghai Museum one of the most well-known museums in China. The Shanghai Museum is chiefly a museum for antique arts.
The China Silk Museum in Hangzhou has 6,100 square meters of exhibition space inside it.
